Learn the 99 Names of God in 7 days

Would you like to be able to learn the 99 Names of God? Maybe you’ve tried this in the past, but you’ve never got past the first dozen. Maybe you’d like to make more of an effort in your religious studies for ramadan. Maybe you just would like to have a better memory and to use it for your religious studies.

This is a skill that you can use throughout your life, from remembering shopping lists to helping learn foreign language vocabulary as well as historical information.

Technology is increasingly present in our lives, but memorisation still brings benefits. Science is now showing how having long-term knowledge stored away makes it easier to learn new material. Learning the 99 Names is not just about learning a list of names. It is a programme of study that will benefit you in every area of your life. No matter what your career or path in life, everyone gains from a better memory.

Is it possible?

Take a moment and imagine if you were able to recall the 99 Names of God. Think of the benefits it would bring to your daily prayers. Think of how it would enhance your day. You'll be able to bring some of the different qualities to your mind as you go about your errands or perhaps as you wait in line while out shopping.

It is not hard to develop your memory, but it is a skill that is not much used any more. In previous centuries — times when there was no internet and sometimes no paper books to refer to — a strong memory was an essential skill.

You can have that strong memory. This course will teach you the techniques and guide you through an application to the task of learning the Asmaa ul-Husnaa. Once you have learnt all 99 Names and the core memorisation principles, you can apply the lessons to other topics and materials.

What will we learn?

The 99 Names Course will teach you to:

  • memorise the 99 names of God (the Asmaa’ ul-Husnaa)
  • recall the 99 names in any order you want
  • find uses for these ancient memory techniques in your daily lives: for remembering shopping lists, for your school work, for your family life and for your ongoing religious studies and hifdh.
  • review what you have learnt in the best way to transfer your knowledge to your long-term memory
  • develop systems so you can memorise other lists and important data

What do I get?

  • daily emails containing the course’s core lessons
  • 13 custom worksheets and handouts to practice the daily email lessons
  • a summary sheet at the end of the week with an overview of the main principles of the course
  • recommendations for ways to apply the principles in your daily lives and in other studies
  • support through the Incremental Elephant community on our forum

Why sign up now?

Life is short. Time is passing and every minute you defer your dreams is another minute you cannot regain.
If you think you’re busy now, there will always be something going on in your life. The saying ‘there’s no time like the present’ is pretty spot-on. Taking action now is almost always better than waiting until you have the perfect circumstances and situation. You'll never have that perfect time and situation.
So why not take the opportunity to improve your memory and your Islamic knowledge right now?

Who should take this course?

This course is recommended for anyone who has tried (without success) to learn the 99 Names in the past. If you are serious about your religious studies, you'll benefit from this programme. This course will give you the skills to memorise new material and to better understand the things you read.
If you think you have problems with your memory, rest assured that this is a common complaint. Anyone can use these techniques to learn the 99 Names and to benefit your daily lives.

Who should not take this course?

Even though the techniques themselves are easy to learn and apply, there is some work involved in this course. The programme is designed to be completed in 7 days. You can do these days one after another, or you can spread them out however is most convenient for you.
If you are not serious about putting in some time to reading the lessons and doing the associated tasks assigned for each day, then this course probably isn’t for you.

FAQ

  • I heard there were multiple lists of names. Which one do you use?

There is no definitive list of the 99 Names. Also, scholars have written how there are actually more than 99 Names of Allah. That said, there are several lists which are commonly used. This course is list-agnostic, which is to say that the point of the course is to teach you the skills to learn long lists of items. The one that the handouts reference is that derived from the Abu Hurayra narration as found in al-Tirmidhi. If you have another preferred list, this doesn’t interfere with the course and you can simply use your list as an alternative.

  • How long will each lesson take?

The lessons range in length from around 500-2000 words. Depending on your reading speed, each lesson will take approximately 15-30 minutes.

  • Is there homework?

Each lesson ends with a task assignment to apply what you have learnt about memory. These tasks are designed to reinforce the theories with practical experience. In this way, you will learn the 99 Names over the course of the week. The speed with which you complete the homework is highly variable, but you should calculate to spend a minimum of 45 minutes working on each day’s tasks.

  • How is the course delivered?

You'll receive each lesson as an email, sent to the email address you sign up with. You'll get one email per day for seven days.

  • When will the course start?

As soon as you buy the course you will receive an introductory email. The first lesson will arrive the following day and you’ll receive a new lesson every subsequent day until the end of the course.
